Oren Ambarchi creates works full of uncertainty and tension, blending contemporary electronics, improvisation, minimalism, subtle singer-songwriter influences, and inspirations from composers such as Morton Feldman and Alvin Lucier. His experiments with guitar and extended techniques have led to the development of a unique sound, incorporating a wide range of instruments including glass harmonica, strings, bells, percussion, and piano. Ambarchi has collaborated with artists such as Fennesz, Keiji Haino, John Zorn, Merzbow, and many others. His albums have been released on renowned labels, and his trio with Haino and O’Rourke performs regularly in Tokyo. Ambarchi is also the founder of the Black Truffle label, which has released over 90 albums. His latest album, Shebang, was released by Drag City.
