Anchiskhati Ensemble & Reso Kiknadze – sacral motifs at the CODES Festival

Another collective that will appear during CODES Festival is The Anchiskhati Ensemble. The concert will be performed by the choir accompanied by Reso Kiknadze on saxophones and electronics.

Founded in 1988, the Anchiskhati Cathedral Choir has been one of the leading guardians of rich Georgian musical culture.Their unique timbre tells the Choir apart from other ensembles singing in Georgia nowadays.

To achieve this, choir members have studied numerous manuscripts and old tape recordings, scattered across different libraries and archives.

Visits to the last living members of the once extensive singing families, have made them capable of recreating the system of this uncommon and highly complex vocal music.
